You know when people say they want to be a million miles away from something?

Well…. You’re only going to end up about 3,960 miles away from where you started. You might as well just go 12.450.5 miles, cause then you’d be on the other side of the world… literally.

If anyone says that Israel is justified in bombing Gaza, let me point something out...

- A group of Palestinians killed 3 Israeli teenagers
- A group of Israeli Jews respond by burning a Palestinian teenager to death
- Hamas responds by stepping up the number of rockets fired into Israel
- 0 Rockets struck populated areas thanks to Israels Iron Dome Missile Defense system
- Israel responds to rocket attacks with air strikes on the Gaza strip

Number of Deaths:
Gaza: 100+ (600+ Injured)
Israel: 0 (3 if you count the teenagers who were kidnapped and murdered by Palestinians)

Seeing the response from Americans, especially the Christians among us, has been nothing short of disgusting. Calls for the US to bomb Gaza, or applauding Israels use of force is the exact opposite of what Jesus taught. Let’s not forget everyone’s favorite moral lesson, the Sermon on the Mount…
Matthew 5:38-42
“38 You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ 39 But I say to you, Do not resist one who is evil. But if any one strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also; 40 and if any one would sue you and take your coat, let him have your cloak as well; 41 and if any one forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. 42 Give to him who begs from you, and do not refuse him who would borrow from you.”

To quote my favorite fictional Priest…
“Evil begets evil, Mr. President. Shooting will only make it stronger.” –Priest Vito Cornelius, The Fifth Element.

John Boehner: President Obama hasn’t ‘faithfully’ executed lawspolitico.com

House Speaker John Boehner said he plans to move forward with a lawsuit against President Barack Obama for misusing executive powers. “The Constitution makes it clear that a president’s job is to faithfully execute the laws. In my view, the president has not faithfully executed the laws,” the Ohio Republican said on Wednesday. “When…

Let’s look at the pure number of Executive Orders written by some previous Presidents…
Teddy Roosevelt: 1,081 (2 terms)
Taft: 724 (1 term)
Wilson: 1,802 (2)
Harding: 522 (½ term, died just over 2 years into his Presidency)
Coolidge: 1,203 (Finished Hardings term, +1 term)
Hoover: 968 (1)
FDR: 3,522 (3) <– WINNER!! (Parts of the “New Deal” were enacted using only Executive Orders)
Truman: 907 (2)
Eisenhower: 484 (2)
JFK: 214 (½)
Johnson: 325 (1 + ½ JFK)
Nixon: 346 (2)
Ford: 169 (1)
Carter: 320 (1)
Reagan: 381 (2)
G.H.W. Bush: 166 (1)
Clinton: 364 (2)
G.W. Bush: 291 (1)
Obama: 168 (1 ½)

Executive Orders help officers and agencies of the executive branch manage the operations within the federal government itself. Executive orders have the full force of law when they take authority from a power granted directly to the Executive (President) by the Constitution, or are made in response to certain Acts of Congress that explicitly delegate to the President some degree of discretionary power. Executive orders are subject to judicial review, and may be struck down if deemed by the courts to be unsupported by statute or the Constitution. Major policy initiatives usually require approval by the legislative branch, but executive orders have significant influence over the internal affairs of government, deciding how and to what degree laws will be enforced, dealing with emergencies, waging war, and in general fine policy choices in the implementation of broad statutes.

So far, in my opinion, Obama has not over stepped his bounds and it’s literally the only way to get something done with this “do nothing congress.” To call this, the 113th, Congress bad is like calling water wet. It is harming the economy in the short term while running from serious long-term problems. Their approval ratings are stuck in the teens, with occasion dips into single digits. Having enacted 104 laws since early 2013, this Congress is on track to break the previous record low of 283, set in 2011/12 by the 112th Congress. Did I mention they “single handedly” shutdown the Government for a few days? What did that cause? Well, for one it closed all National Parks during the busy season, which lost upwards of $500 million (low estimate) in tourist spending nationwide, which not only hurt the parks themselves, but the surrounding communities who live off the backs of tourism.

Honestly, we’re better off when Congress at home… At least then we’re wasting less tax dollars on these idiots.

Morale of the Story... Part II

Morale of the Story… Part II

If you haven’t read Part I, do that first.

Don’t worry, I’ll wait.

You’re all caught up? Good!

I spent the entirety of last week recovering whatever I could from the old hard drive. I first used TestDisk to try and recover the old partition in the hopes I could just go back to the way things were….

When TestDisk failed to recover the old partition, I switched to using PhotoRecwhich basically…

Moral of the story...

Moral of the story…

It all started a few months ago when my Ubuntu 12.04 LTS machine at work had some graphical issues one morning. I came into the office like every other day and booted up my machine. When it got to the login screen, it was very low quality and both monitors were displaying the samething. “No worries!” I thought, “I’ll just reinstall the NVIDIA driver. There was a Kernel update a few days ago, so…
