Emptyage: Generation X Doesn't Want to Hear Itemptyage.com

Earlier generations have weathered recessions, of course; this stall we’re in has the look of something nastier. Social Security and Medicare are going to be diminished, at best. Hours worked are up even as hiring staggers along: Blood from a stone looks to be the normal order of things “going…

Dear Mr. Obama

Good day to you sir, I am taking time away from a good nights sleep to write you this message….. You fucked up. Bad. Before you jump to conclusions and send the CIA after me and throw me in Guantonimo Bay, hear me out.

You ran an amazing campaign. You promised us Health Care Reform, Wall Street Reform, freedom from corporate greed, a stable and thriving economy, and best of all, freedom to live the way we want to live. But you have failed, at all of these.

You told us things would be different. You told us America would grow and prosper with you in control… but what have you done? You’ve bowed down to conservatives, corporations, left wing nut jobs, right wing nut jobs, and even foreign states.

You are not the person I voted for. The man I voted for stood his ground, didn’t cave to oposition, tried to do right, and fought for what he believed in.

You think you’re doing right by bending over backwards to please everyone. But let me tell you this, in my 24 years of life I have learned that you can never please everyone all the time. Like my Mom has always told me, you have to pick your battles…. and frankly, you haven’t picked any.

You’ve avoided tough issues to please a small group of people. But the people you should be trying to please are the American People, the Citizens of this great nation, the people who voted for you so you could fix the glaring problems that have plagued our country for the past 60 years. You haven’t done jack shit except blow a lot of smoke and dig our hole even deeper.

When I colored in the little box next to “Barak Obama” on my voters card I had high hopes. I felt that you were going to undo what the previous presidents let happen. I thought you were going to bring real change to America, but I was wrong. The only change that you brought was a new face to the same dog and pony show.

You want to fix America? I can give you four steps which will get you on your way to bringing America back to the glory days, the days our Founding Fathers dreamed of.

  1. Regulate Wall Street. Make rules for fair play, send them a bill for the money they owe the American People (with a large asshole tax), and while you’re at it… kill corporate lobbying, for good.

  2. Tax the 1%. You know, the 1% of the people that hold over 50% of America’s total wealth. You know, the people in suits, sipping champagne, and laughing at the rest of us who are flooding Wall Street protesting the very subject of this blog post. Yeah, those guys. The guys who paid you off, just like every other President. This includes tax loopholes, corporate tax loopholes, etc.

  3. Give large tax cuts to the lower and middle class. We are the driving force of the economy. We buy more, sell more, and do more with money and the fat cats on Wall Street do.

  4. And finally the Creme de la creme…. Put us back to the gold/silver standard. Our paper money is worth squat. What little money I have/made/will make is only as good as the Fed says it is. It has no inherit value, none what so ever. If America is no longer around, all the money I have in the world is completely and utterely worthless. And while you’re at it, kill The Fed. Why does a privately held business have America by the balls? Where are the regulations on what the Fed does? Why can’t I, as an American Citizen, go into the Fed and ask “What’s up, doc?”

Do those four steps, and America will be on track to be a world leader once again.

No more of this bending over backwards bullshit. Be a man. Stand up for what’s right. In the words of Shepard Book (Firefly TV Series): “If you can’t do something smart, do something right.”

It’s time to what’s right Mr. Obama. It’s time to give America back to the people.
